and...
LEARNING. Call me a dork but I love learning new things. Whether it be about Symbolism in Chinese Ballads, Pseudostratified Ciliated Columnar Epithelium, Wiring a computer as an art form, or the Ideal workout for a mesomorph who wants hypertrophy... I love it all. Expertise:-The Human Body: Muscular and Skeletal Anatomy, Exercise, Flexibility, etc. If you want to learn how to do a backflip or fix your poor tumbling form I'm a certified USA Gymnastics Instructor so I can spot you on certain things and critique your form.
-Computers: I've built 2 computers, one regular, one that is one that has one of the fastest single-core processors in the world. I don't mind giving self-help tips, but please don't go telling every friend you know that you have a tech support guy... not cool. It's not that I don't like to help... It's just that... I've been approached by people I don't even know before asking for computer help. Then... they never talk to me again. Well I love you too random people!
-Random Facts: I research and read a lot, so I know random stuff like how to get scratches out of your CDs with toothpaste, rubbing sugar in wounds to help them heal faster (super oxygenated), and proper lava lamp usage so... I dunno... Ask me?! Occupation:Student Industry:Medical
I tried to meet some new people at the howdy party but... okay.... If you're organizing a party for people to meet one another I would think "dark and loud" wouldn't be the ideal environment, but maybe that's just me. At least I met up with some old friends :).
Nursing school sounds insane, but year after year people graduate just fine and I have no qualms about it. With God's help I'm indomitable. I'm a little overwhelmed and culture shocked right now, but after some sleep I think my short term memory loss will go away and the sleep deprived neurons in my brain will sing happy songs of cheesecake. (I've not slept more than 6 hours for about 4-5 days because of buying a car, working on said car, building a computer, finding and buying a bike, and packing...)
Anyway, I'm sort of excited about the semester and am happy to see some old friends again. I really hope I can make some new ones. So far I've met about 5 people but I only remember two haha. Um.... Joy is one which I met waiting in line when she couldn't find her friend and then Candice and her freind (dangit I forgot her name) who accidentally cut me in line haha. Good times.
I need some kind of pad just for writing down people's names.
It feels like 5AM, so I'm going to unpack a bit more, shower, and zonk. I shall dream sweet dreams of syringes, old people, and various long-named medical terms. Dehydroepiandosterone? Yes please.
Got my microbiology exam back. That class is BRUTAL... Lost a lot of points on really nitpicky stuff. So... the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhea causes Trachoma... Trachoma causes blindness in babies, so if a mother has Gonorrhea and births a child naturally does not her Gonorrhea cause blindness in the child? Well not according to the professor. Three students brought it up one after the other and I just sat in silent frustration knowing any further attempt at regaining unjustly lost points was futile. Last time the tests ranged from 40-96. According to the prof our class hit a new low this time. I pity the poor soul that made worse than a 40. An A in that class (95+) is offically impossible now... It's sad when your class is so hard that an 87 dashes your chances at an A. Oh well... Colossians 3:23... Maybe my random knowledge of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease will save a life someday.
Some guy stole my bike too so needless to say the morning started off kind of rough. I found it later.... I'm thinking of coming up with some sort of micro-implosion device linked to a GPA transmitter so that the bike self-disassembles once outside of a certain predefined area... Those theives have it coming and in all honesty I wouldn't mind them falling on a pile of random bike parts at 15mph. Alright so maybe that's a little mean... Well I guess my patience has run out after seeing my bike, drew's bike, tim's bike, and D.L.'s bike stolen multiple times.
I found out only last night that I had a Chemistry test today... ...and I was so tired last night that I ended up just staring at the pages with nothing happening. Oh yeah and my SCUBA final was today haha.
Needless to say I was praying for a little extra study help today... In the short time between 9:20 and 10:30 I was able to study enough for Chemistry and Stats and really feel good about those exams! The SCUBA final was a success as well (it ends up that class is NOT pass/fail... whew! Glad I studied).... Praise the Lord for getting me through what could've been a miserable GPA experience.
Also, to my siblings in Christ... Don't forget the basics. God is always faithful. Always. Sometimes you pray for wisdom, guidance, and signs and then get a result you don't want. Well?! Did he not answer your prayers? Who are we to question the creator of the universe? Things, however difficult, do not happen meaninglessly when we are striving to honor God with our lives. Scholastics aside, it was an upsetting night, but an answer to prayer is an answer to prayer... Praise God forever and ever. Amen.
I know I've not posted in some time.... Well what can I say?... School + Social Life + Writing in my actual-important-facts-journal = Not a whole lot of time for Xanga.
It's been a good semester... I've learned a lot, both scolastically and socially... I've sprained both ankles hahaha... The extreme life lends itself to injuries...
...I've been blessed with some really good friends and some good experiences which I will surely not soon forget ...
God has verifyably changed my attitude and life this semester and I cannot give Him glory enough for the positive things that the choice of maintaining a positive mindset have had, and it is a choice.... a daily concious choice to focus on the good. It feels so great to escape the negativity and the unhealthy focus on the condition of "me" which lends itself to depressing thoughts and attitudes.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I have been amazingly amazingly blessed this semester. Why?... I have no idea... But I'm glad I serve a mighty and loving God.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (forgive me if the grammar isn't spot on...) "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly. I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have finished preaching I, myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
Yes... I had to spend $13 for a .05oz bottle of copper compound to put a capacitor back on my video card.
